Self-Care For A Cause: Grief + Remembrance
Shining a Light on Loss
Mother's Day and Father's Day can be incredibly difficult for many people. Fig & Fire is shining a light on those who are often overlooked during this time by raising awareness of the struggles many quietly face, honoring the memories of those no longer physically present, and providing comfort through natural self-care.
This campaign was created in loving memory of Sonny, the beautiful and philanthropic mother of Fig & Fire's owner and maker.
You Are Not Alone
If you are one of the people who dread this time of year, you are not alone.
I recognize that many people feel differently about Mother’s Day and Father's Day for so many reasons. Some people struggle to become parents, some have lost children, some have parents who are no longer physically present, some have non-existent or strained parent-child relationships, and some have other devastating circumstances. While each loss is different, the reality is that the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day and Father’s Day can be incredibly difficult.
For many years, I hated Mother’s Day and the awful weeks leading up to it. It was a gut-punching reminder that my mom wasn’t physically with me. My mom’s funeral was also held on Mother’s Day, which was heartbreaking yet no better way to honor the amazing woman she was. Even though she passed away when I was a teenager, I know she’d be proud of what I’ve built and how I’m giving back through my business.
Taking Time For Yourself
During difficult times, self-care is more important than ever. Self-care is taking an active and deliberate role in your well-being and happiness. It is anything you do to take care of your mental, emotional, and physical health.
Fig & Fire is offering a variety of self-care options (meaningful candles, relaxing shower steamers, pampering sugar scrubs, and more) that will benefit an amazing non-profit organization.
Self-Care For A Cause
Sales will benefit The Dinner Party, a non-profit organization that seeks to transform life after loss from an isolating experience into one marked by community support, candid conversation, and forward movement.
I chose to highlight and donate to The Dinner Party because I wish I had known there was a resource like this when I was 15. I am in my 30s now and I’m choosing to honor my mother’s memory through this collection, specifically with the “In My Heart” candle — though I know she’d love the “Thinking of You” and “Love From Afar” candles, as well as the other self-care offerings.
If you’d like to support this special collection, you can do so by sharing this campaign with your friends or making a purchase online. If you’d like to honor a loved one’s memory or support a loved one who is struggling, this would make an incredibly thoughtful and meaningful gift.
Thank you for helping Fig & Fire spread the light!
