The Breasties is a nonprofit organization that empowers women affected by breast and reproductive cancers by igniting strength and positivity through connection, free retreats, wellness activities, events, and an all-inclusive resourceful online community. This amazing organization built a much-needed community where survivors, previvors, warriors, thrivers, and caregivers could connect with and draw strength from one another.
The organization was founded in 2017 by four women who had been impacted by breast cancer in their 20s. The founders wanted to create a community for women in similar situations to feel that they were not alone and that cancer did not define them. This mission resonated with so many women that their community has grown to thousands of women from all over the world. These women support one another and are breast friends -- breasties. They help each other through tough times and empower one another to move forward.
How is Fig & Fire involved?
In October 2018, Karen (Owner, Fig & Fire) watched a video about The Breasties that her friend posted on Facebook. Even though she was still in the research and development phase of her business, Karen knew this was an organization she wanted to be involved with when the time was right.
A few months into launching Fig & Fire, Karen reached out to The Breasties to see how she could contribute. Non-toxic products are especially important for The Breasties community, so Fig & Fire's candles were a perfect fit! Fig & Fire created the "Move Mountains" candle featuring The Breasties' logo and words that capture what the organization is all about: stronger together, community, and never alone. The Breasties' color is lavender, which is the color representing all cancers. The candle is available in two scents: lavender fields and mountain woods, and comes wrapped in lavender tissue paper. The candle pairs wonderfully with our lavender color-tip matches!
How can candle lovers make a difference?
